The presale begins in August! Sign up for our newsletter for exact date and time.
If you have an item in your cart, it isn’t reserved until you complete your purchase, successfully check out, and receive both an order number and confirmation email. I completely understand the frustration of trying to check out while things go out of stock (actual footage of me during dahlia sales). This functionality is related to e-commerce, and not something we can control.
Once an order is placed, we’re unable to add or remove items or combine shipping. If you’d like to add more to your order, you’ll need to place a separate one, which will ship separately. (I used to allow people to add to their orders but I still have outstanding invoices from people forgetting pay 2 years ago🤪).
All sales are final and only qualify for a return if there is an issue with the item received, based on our guarantees outlined below. Returns are evaluated at the sole discretion of Petal Back Farm LLC.
We may set some limits on the most sought-after varieties and when inventory is limited, so that more people have a chance to grow them. This will clearly be stated in the product description. Please respect these limitations when placing your order. We will return any order that does not respect these limits.
Above all else, we want you to be happy with your order! I spend months sourcing varieties: from rare and unique to tried-and-true favorites. Sharing them with you is one of the biggest honors of my life.
That said, we’re working with nature, and sometimes things do not go exactly as planned. Suppliers can experience crop failures, and varieties may look a little different in photos. This does not always mean a variety is incorrect; colors can appear more or less pronounced depending on climate and growing conditions. And sometimes, despite everyone’s best efforts, mistakes or mix-ups happen.
If a crop failure occurs, suppliers usually offer or send a replacement. If this happens, we will email you with the replacement option. If you prefer not to receive it, we will refund the original item from your order.
If there is a mistake, please email us with your order number and a clear photo of the item received. If we confirm an error, we will refund that item. Refunds cannot exceed the original purchase price of the item.
Sometimes, flowers simply look different in person than they do in photos. This can be due to lighting, growing conditions, or terroir (you can read more about how terroir affects plants here). If the variety is confirmed to be correct, this does not qualify for a refund. However, if the discrepancy seems significant, please reach out. We’ll contact our supplier to discuss a possible exception. Occasionally, a variety is new to us as well, and we rely on supplier photos, which we note in our listings.
All bulbs, corms, and bare roots should be inspected upon arrival to ensure viability before planting. Failure to thrive after planting due to cultural or environmental factors does not qualify for a refund.
All Wisconsin state residents will be charged sales tax.
We ship orders once bulbs, corms, and bare roots arrive from our suppliers. This is typically October/November. Because suppliers cannot provide exact dates, we cannot either, but we do our best to keep our website updated with the most current timeframes.
If these windows do not work for you or for your climate, please kindly do not place an order. For reference, we are in Zone 4 Wisconsin, and we do not plant our bulbs or bare roots until every last order has shipped. This is usually mid- to late-November.
Once your order ships, you will receive a confirmation email with tracking information.
Combined shipping:
Due to e-commerce system limitations, we cannot combine separate orders. It is a logistical challenge and fully manual on the backend, which increases the risk of errors. To keep things fair and accurate, we use tiered shipping rather than a flat rate. This aligns the shipping price and box size with the amount of bulbs ordered. We will continue to evaluate and adjust based on your feedback and any system improvements.
Backorders:
Occasionally, bulbs are backordered. If any items are still backordered by late October, we will ship the in-stock items right away and send the backordered bulbs as soon as they arrive. The additional shipment cost is on us.
Damage in transit:
If your bulbs show any signs of damage during transit, please email a photo to support@petalbackfarm.com
within 5 days of receiving your package so we can begin a refund.
Local friends:
Due to logistics and limited time, we are not offering farm pickups at this time. Even mail carriers have a hard time finding us 😅. We will announce any changes in our newsletter.
That was a lot of information, but we want to make sure we cover all the bases. Now that we’ve made it through the fine print, let's get back to the fun part: growing flowers!
At the end of the day, we’re just a couple of dreamers who love growing things.
From one flower lover to the next, cheers!

Below you’ll find everything you need to know about our bulb sale. When we say “bulb,” we’re referring to bulbs, corms, and bare roots alike.
We know—rules aren’t the most exciting part of flower ordering—but we’ve learned they’re necessary to keep everything running smoothly. So let’s get this part out of the way so we can move on to the fun stuff: planting flowers!
By purchasing bulbs, corms, or bare roots from us, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
As noted above, there is always some risk involved when purchasing living plant material. By purchasing bulbs, corms, or bare roots from Petal Back Farm LLC, you agree that the maximum amount of damages available in any claim will not exceed the total cost of the items purchased.
Refunds or replacements are at the sole discretion of Petal Back Farm LLC. The farm is not responsible for any compensation beyond a refund for the purchase price of the affected items.
Peonies are often one of the last items to arrive from our wholesalers, even though we request that they ship at the same time as our bulbs. Suppliers are working on tight schedules too :)
We've learned this means peonies usually don’t arrive until November. If your order includes peonies, your entire order will ship in November, once the peonies arrive, pass inspection, and are packed up.
If you’d like your bulbs to ship earlier (typically in mid- to late-October), please place separate orders for bulbs/corms and for peonies. We ship all bulb- and corm-only orders first, as soon as those items arrive, pass inspection, and are packed up.
Shipping costs are tiered to reflect the appropriate amount based on the size of each package.
